Haulout

A 70-ton Marine Travellift is located on site at Bennett Brothers Yachts Cape Fear River facility. Extra wide beam vessels, up to 25’, and deep draft vessels, up to 10’, are easily accommodated. Up to 90’ length overall (LOA), both power and sail can be hauled with shipping channel depth access to our location.

Planning on shipping your vessel to destinations near or far around the world? Our capabilities include hauling to and from shipping trailers and our boatyard services can prepare your vessel on either end of a move, including commissioning and decommissioning. Our location 5 minutes from Wilmington International Airport (ILM) means meeting your boat at our location is a breeze. We even offer complimentary pick-up to the yard!

Emergency haulouts available, please contact Patricia Bennett at 910-233-1463 or Connor Bennett at 910-443-5368.

Hurricane Haul Out Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Will this application guarantee that my boat will be hauled if I request dry storage?

A: No, since at any one time we may have the yard filled with boat in the midst of repair/restoration projects. We do not know our availability in advance but we do make every effort to accommodate as many boats as we can in our protected yard.

Q: Once BBY has contacted me and I have confirmed and paid, what happens if the storm passes us by or I change my mind and decide not to come?

A: The reservation, once confirmed, is non-refundable.

Q: How secure will my boat be if it is hauled?

A: All vessels are blocked to American Boat and Yacht Council standards. The boatyard is 16 ft. above the 100-year flood plain. Our yard has never flooded and the hard compacted marl prevents the jackstands from sinking.

Q: I know this form is for haulout only, how can I be guaranteed a slip in the event of a storm?

A: Since the occupancy at the marina varies throughout the year, the only way to make sure you have a confirmed slip is to rent one for the hurricane season. We have no hurricane application for the marina.

Q: My insurance company requires that I have a plan in the event of a hurricane, can this be used?

A: Yes, most insurance carriers accept our application as part of your hurricane plan, contact your company for specific requirements. Your insurance company may even pay for a portion of your haulout – contact your insurance agent for details.

Q: How soon after the storm will my boat be launched?

A: It is determined order in which the boats are hauled, i.e. first one hauled, last one launched. However, it is best to see the Service Manager for a time. We strive to launch boats as quickly as possible once the BBY President or Service Manager determines it is safe to do so.

Q: If I have applied, can I call and give confirmation before BBY contacts me, even though it may be well in advance of a hurricane?

A: Yes!
